Update Tracker

Update: March 21, 2022

In view of the recent changes in public health policy, at TEMC we continue to recommend that all those who attend worship services and activities at the church be masked for the safety and protection of the most vulnerable in the congregation, especially when socializing and travelling through the building. We recognize that everyone has personal views and feelings about mask use, and we remind ourselves of the need to be compassionate, respectful, and supportive of each other.

Update: January 24, 2022

In-person services and Sunday School classes will resume on February 6th, 2022. No pre-registration required. It will be a first-come, first-served basis with the capacity limit set at 200 attendees.

Update: January 6, 2022

Due to the current COVID environment, all worship services will be online only and in-person groups & activities are suspended until further notice. Update on any changes will be posted on our website.

Update: November 1, 2021

Please read the latest update from the Building Re-Opening Committee here.

Update: September 2, 2021

As we are now in Stage 3 of Ontario’s re-opening plan, we are pleased to provide this update on our current intention with respect to the phased re-opening of our church and related facilities. As always, it remains our priority to ensure the safety and well-being of all members and adherents of our community of faith at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church and we will continue to monitor and adhere to government and public health requirements and guidance.

  • We plan to have our first “live” worship service with congregation present in-person at 11:00 AM on Sunday, September 19, 2021
  • While attendance at that service and all subsequent services will be limited as required to maintain physical distancing best practices, we anticipate that we will be able to welcome all of those who wish to worship in person. Pre-registration will not be required, but worshippers will be required to sign-in, be screened for COVID symptoms & temperature and are expected to observe masking and physical distancing protocols. We encourage all worshippers to receive both doses of an approved vaccine
  • For those who are unable or choose not to join us in person, we will continue our livestream, podcasts and radio broadcast as we have throughout the pandemic. Please refer to our website for further details
  • During the period when we have one Sunday service, the 11:00 AM service will combine elements of both traditional and contemporary worship
  • We are continuing to plan for the recommencement of Sunday School as soon as feasible and will provide further details when settled
  • We plan to resume baptism, wedding, and memorial services in accordance with government health guidelines
  • Inquiries concerning any other requested use of the church and related facilities should be directed to Michael Loo, Director, Property Management (email: michaelloo@temc.ca, cell: 416-804-0349)
  • We will provide further updates as new information becomes available

Update: May 18, 2021

Rev. Dr. Stirling shares an update from the Building Re-opening Committee. Watch the video below and read their full written statement here.

Update: April 21, 2021

Here's what's ahead in the life of TEMC and how it looks for our church for the next little while.

Update: November 11, 2020

Due to rising COVID-19 cases and following the recommendation of Mayor Tory and Toronto Public Health, Timothy Eaton Memorial Church will be closing the church building and suspending in-person services indefinitely. We are reviewing the situation regularly and will provide notice of any changes when available.  In the meantime, our community of faith remains vibrant and strong and we encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our virtual Sunday worship services and the many activities and programs which TEMC continues to offer.

Update: October 26, 2020

Timothy Eaton Memorial Church has a long-standing commitment and proud tradition of making its facilities available for use by community groups which serve a variety of compelling social needs. Regrettably but unavoidably, the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted the church’s ability to fully serve those groups. The church will continue to operate within protocols that meet or exceed the current recommendations and requirements of Toronto Public Health and Public Health Ontario for facilities occupation, faith services and events. Currently, in accordance with those requirements, we are limiting all such community group activities to a maximum of 10 people.  We will continue to monitor applicable requirements and will adjust our protocols as and when permitted.
