Cover to Cover Book Club

Dear Friends,

I am delighted to be introducing the TEMC book club to some new selections. I truly hope we can start to encourage people from beyond our congregation to attend. Thus, I was very intentional in selecting books that can spark discussions and while featuring spiritual or theological or even philosophical themes will also be accessible to everyone.

To begin, we are doing a study of  W.O. Mitchell’s WHO HAS SEEN THE WIND, a seminal classic reflecting the tenacity and  beauty of our wonderful country during this moment of unity.

In April, I am delighted to share the witty, winsome and wonderful A GENTLEMAN IN MOSCOW by Amor Towles.  This book is a world in itself with themes of redemption and grace that mirror Victor Hugo’s classic Christianity-driven story Les Misérables. A note that April's book club will be held on Monday, April 28 so everyone can enjoy a long Easter weekend.

I would strongly encourage you to invite your friends and neighbours.

Books are also chosen due to their easy availability at used bookstores, the Toronto Public Library, audible, ebook etc.

Please note book club is designed to entice conversation while recognizing not everyone will have had the opportunity to read the book. As such, the discussion will be curated around particular passages and themes without spoiling the story and in hopes that any attendant’s appetite will be whet for finishing the story in their own time.

Happy Reading,

Rachel
